I thought you might have.. some advice to give... on how to be... Insensitive...
I think ego might be the one dependable (but illusory) comfort most have in their lives. We fancy ourselves sophisticated, interesting, cultured, confident and most laughably, even loved. Love (or its illusion) is one of the biggest props that vanity knows. Some of the most recognized philosophers of all time tried to define what love is and never came up with a cohesive definition. It can't be the warm fuzzies.. most agree that those go away. Can't be lust... not only can that fade some for those who "love" but there are also those who lust without love at all. It's not necessarily carnal, as parents love children and friends love an another... and its not always permanent. Its amazing how little it takes to destroy the trust upon which love is built and how long, once destroyed, that trust is rebuilt. Even a parent's love, which most might define as immutable is often, in truth, much more fluid and conditional in its expression. Marriage is, at times, the expression of motives other than love while real love is not always rewarded with matrimony. Love might be unrequited, or unequally returned. Doubt, lies, inconsideration, or even asentmindedness might wear down and eventually wear out even the most devoted lover. I think maybe love might be the most highly publicized, undependable and overrated motivator of all time.
